The Meindl Woodwalker, or Waldlaufer, boot is a high quality leather chainsaw boot with waterproof Goretex lining. Meindl are well known for their range of premium quality hiking boots, so naturally, they understand the need for all-day comfort along with durability.
Handcrafted from fine full grain leather, the Woodwalker boot offers a number of features:
- One-piece sturdy upper means fewer seams that can split or get damaged
- Protective scuff cap minimises wear to the toe area
- Memory foam inner moulds to the user’s foot shape, creating a custom fit and improved comfort
- Goretex lining ensures the boot remains fully waterproof even in very wet conditions, whilst still allowing the foot to breathe.
Tough and durable boots with good ankle support and generally high level of comfort.

PLEASE NOTE! Many of our customers find that the sizing on these boots is a bit on the tight size, so if you are in-between sizes, you may wish to order the bigger size.

I have been a chainsaw operator since 1984. After many types of boots I discovered Meindl Woodwalkers about 10 yrs ago. I have stuck with them since. Had a few pairs now.
Why? I have found them a comfortable boot to wear all day and then still a dog walk after work. Every other make I have had I couldn’t wait to take off at the end of day. They feel a bit stiff and bulky at first but soon break in to be comfy quicker than others I have tried. The goretex lining works well keeping my feet dry even after working all day in very wet boggy ground and/or snow. The grip feels good on steep slopes.
Top tips – Always buy at least a half size bigger than you think you need in any boots. I always used to buy 10. Then 8 yrs ago changed to 11. Feet definitely get bigger/wider as the day goes on. Have room for foot expansion! Buy some insoles to take up excessive movement. I have different insoles for different weather. Experiment with cheaper brands of insoles. Boots may feel a bit loose in the morning but feet will fill them as day goes on. My feet now feel cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold. There are large blood vessels along top of the foot, don’t constrict them.
Don’t try to pull laces too tight. Go online and learn the ‘Ian Knot’ to make sure your laces don’t come undone.( it’s just a quick / secure way of tying bow / square knot..)
Don’t wrap laces around top of boot. Do use all the eyelets and hooks.
The rand band does start to come away from front end and toe cap of the Woodwalker boot eventually, I used to try and glue it back, the last pair I just cut off any loose with sharp knife, doesn’t seem to leak.
There are probably other boots as good I’m just giving my opinion of these Woodwalkers.
A good price through Landmark Trading. The postage is a bit steep to Scotland at £22.00 (Courier charge.) but even with that they still cheaper than other suppliers, and very quick delivery.
